Honeymoon To Sri Lanka & the Maldives

On arrival into Colombo, you’ll be taken to the northern point of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, where the captivating remnants of early Sinhalese civilisation (with no less than five UNESCO World Heritage Sites) are dotted amongst the green highlands. As Anuradhapura consists of over a dozen archaeological sites, you’ll be taken on a cycling tour of the ancient city in order to pack all of the sights into one scenic trip. You’ll also be taken on a tour around the ruins of Ritigala, an ancient monastery on the eastern side of the Ritigala mountain.

Your home for three nights will be Ulagalla, some of the region’s slickest eco-villas, which stand on stilts above the lotus-topped wetlands, rice paddies and serene woodlands.

You’ll then be transferred to Sigiriya, where you’ll stay in one of Jetwing Vil Uyana’s stilted hideaways. Here, you’ll be perfectly placed to explore the UNESCO sites contained within the Cultural Triangle: climbing the vertiginous staircases of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress (with orange-cloaked monks sprinting past you on the way), feeling like Indiana Jones as you venture into the Dambulla cave complex, and then relaxing in style back at Vil Uyana with spa treatments and tranquil picnics in the rice paddies.

Sitting alongside a tranquil lake within an amphitheatre of mist-draped hills, Kandy draws visitors in with its vibrant culture and fascinating streets.Enjoy a walking tour around the city, where you’re in for a real treat, with decorated elephants, monks cloaked in every colour of the rainbow, and of course the famous Temple of the Tooth, which reportedly contains the tooth of Buddha.

You'll then be taken to the Norwood Tea Estate to learn about the history of the factory and to see tea being plucked while you meet the locals whose ancestors worked the plantations.
