The thatched beach and water bungalows are enveloped by recycled coral walls, and screened by tropical greenery. In the mornings you can slip into your private plunge pool, or – if you’re staying in a water bungalow – you can flop from your bed and into the ocean in just a few steps. Inside, it’s luxury plain and simple, with a wonderfully open feel and plenty of space for both couples and families. The speciality suites are even more luxurious, with features including a floating-island dining platform.

Pick a spacious loft-style water villa which comes with an elevated second-floor lounge and floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic lagoon views, a private infinity pool, an overwater hammock and a shaded sun pavilion. There are family water villas plus two and three-bedroom water suites, all also with their own pools.

There are numerous dining choices here: head to the Blu Beach Club, where you can also tuck into irresistible pizza and gelato in your poolside cabana for a laid-back lunch, and enjoy exquisite Michelin-starred Italian menus for dinner, while Asian, Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine can also be enjoyed in a range of stunning locations, and there's also a shisha den for memorable evenings by the sea.

The resort’s fitness centre offers modern gym facilities and yoga classes, or unwind with holistic and Ayurvedic treatments in the spa - and you can even indulge in a unique night-time spa ritual in a private jungle clearing, including an outdoor bath and a swing bed.

Sea cucumbers, crustaceans, starfish – kids and adults alike will love interacting with the weird and wonderful sea creatures at the resort’s conservation centre. There’s also an on-site turtle sanctuary, and the chance to encounter manta rays and whale sharks on biologist-led dives. If you still haven’t had your fill of aquatic adventures, you can have a go on a SEABOB (underwater scooter), or take up the myriad of water sports on offer.

There are plenty of other activities, including tennis, to keep you happy on dry land as well.
