Hotel Overview

Sense of place

With the endless blue of the Indian Ocean everywhere you look, a stay at Anantara Dhigu is a slice of classic tropical island paradise. Divers and snorkellers in particular will love the famous reefs and coral gardens which surround the island, which are home to a rich variety of marine life.

Rooms at Anantara Dhigu

Anantara Dhigu’s collection of beach villas and suites combine a luxurious interior with rustic touches like thatched roofs and exposed wooden beams. All have direct access to the beach and are just a few steps away from the lagoon.

Sunrise Beach Villas have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean, and a marine colour scheme reflecting the view. If you’re more of a night owl than an early riser, you might prefer the Sunset Pool Villas, which have a private plunge pool and terrace offering beautiful views when the sun goes down. Some, like the Anantara Overwater Pool Suite, offer the option of diving straight into your own stretch of the lagoon - a beautiful way to start the day.

Food & drink

Anantara Dhigu has something to offer foodies of all persuasions, with several top-class restaurants to choose from. The Spice Spoons restaurant offers traditional Maldivian dishes alongside Thai cuisine, while Sea Fire Salt specialises in seafood and flame-grilled meat accentuated by a wide selection of salt - complete with a ‘salt guru’ to help you choose.

Delicious Italian fare is served up at Terrazzo, accompanied by a wide selection of Italian wines, and authentic Thai cuisine is on offer at the beautiful, teak-carved Baan Huraa. Or sample delicate Japanese sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki dishes at Origami, which showcases a traditional Japanese style.

Facilities

At the spa, a range of revitalising treatments take place in a beautiful location hanging above the lagoon. There are several treatment suites, a steam room and a sauna, as well as dedicated treatment rooms for Ayurvedic and Thai therapies. Beachside yoga is led by professional teachers, and morning meditation, also on the beach, will see you starting the day relaxed and energised. There’s also a boutique where you can buy simple necessities alongside handicrafts from India and across Asia.

Activities at Anantara Dhigu

The Maldives is one of the finest diving regions anywhere on the planet, and the waters around the hotel are full of colourful, thriving marine life. A range of PADI diving courses suit divers of all ability levels, and you can enjoy half and full-day safaris through the famed coral gardens, where you’ll spot sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, reef sharks and colourful fusiliers.

If you don’t fancy diving, then snorkelling in the lagoon and reef is also a great way to spot marine life and a rewarding experience. Other water sports include kayaking, sailing and windsurfing, and cruises are available on the hotel's very own luxury yacht - the aptly-named Nirvana.
