Having retained its Georgian charms, Gilpin Hotel provides a timeless balance between the old and new in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside. There are 14 country-chic bedrooms and suites and six deluxe Garden suites, each lavishly furnished with woven rugs, wool throws and textured wallpaper. The Garden suites have large open plan bedrooms and lounges, with en-suite bathrooms, private decking areas and submerged hot tubs. The Gilpin has recently launched five luxurious and secluded cedar-clad lodges, each with a private ensuite spa, a treatment area, a steam room, a stone bath and rainshower and an outdoor sauna and hydrotherapy tub, all surrounded by a serene walled garden with beautiful views over the Lake District moors.

Food and facilities

There are three dining rooms at the Gilpin Hotel, each with its own character and style, serving local Lake District produce and West Coast seafood, such as Kyle of Lochalsh scallops and rolled belly of old spot Gloucestershire pork.Start with sundowners and canapés on the terrace, followed by a delicious main course that has been paired with one of the 200 wines in the hotel’s cellar. End the evening by the fire with a lip-smacking after dinner cocktail.
