Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The Treehouse floats in the pine forest overlooking the Lule River, close to the tiny village of Harads.

Rooms at Treehotel

The rooms here certainly have the wow factor - each of the seven distinct hideouts has been beautifully and uniquely designed using natural materials and drawing on inspiration from their surroundings. Reach your hanging bedroom using a retractable ladder, bridge or ramp, and enjoy the forest outside your window.

Couples will love the Mirrorcube, with its camouflaged exterior projecting the forest onto itself and encasing light-filled interiors and a private terrace. Then there’s the Cabin, simply furnished but set high up from the ground and bestowing panoramic views from its wide windows. For families, there’s the galactic UFO floating in the tree canopy, and the Bird’s Nest and Dragonfly, all of which sleep up to four people; while the beautiful Blue Cone (which is actually red) is the closest to the ground and is wheelchair accessible.

The biggest, the 7th Room, is simply spectacular, nestled 10 metres up in the pines, with views over the huge Lapland treetops and the Lule River beyond. Approached from below, the entire underside has been covered by a photograph of the treetops, and the large panoramic windows and the skylights in the bedrooms offer a perfect view of the colourful Northern Lights. A natural pine tree grows through the netted terrace, which you can climb to gaze at the forest floor below or the starry skies above.

Food & Drink

If you don’t want to come down from your treehouse, you can have drinks and snacks delivered to you. You’ll be tempted by Britta’s Pensionat though, where hearty homemade meals are served buffet style, and the communal layout will have you swapping stories with the other guests. Fuel up on local dishes like reindeer, bear and moose meat, as well as fish freshly caught from the nearby rivers. In winter, have Britta and Kent arrange a dinner on the frozen lake for you, where they’ll set up a tipi tent and light candles to set the mood.

Facilities

Luxuriate in the sauna and have a Swedish massage to soothe worn-out muscles; the open-air hot tub is also totally irresistible.

Activities at Treehotel

There’s a slew of ways to enjoy the great outdoors, and depending on the seasons your experience will be totally different. In winter, venture into the whitened wilderness by dog sledding, snowshoeing, skijoring (where you'll don your skis and be pulled by horses or dogs), ice fishing, and snowmobiling; or even explore by Segway. Then in the warmer months when the ice and snow melts, head out on pine tree forest walks, hikes through the Korgen Nature Reserve, and mountain bike and horseback tours, or for an additional adrenaline rush, go whitewater rafting, kayaking and ziplining.
