Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Island Lodge sits on its own private island, Bergholmen, surrounded by the pristine waters of the Stockholm archipelago (made up of 24,000 islands) and within easy reach of the city. The island was once used as a military base, as seen in the old rock shelter and torpedo workshop.

Rooms at Island Lodge

The seven geodesic tents are domed, spacious and decked out with wooden floors, reindeer hides and cosy wood-burning stoves, and they can be lit up with lamps and candles in the evening. You’ll be sleeping in comfortable double or twin beds draped in mosquito nets, and the tents even have windows so you can enjoy the views from inside. The bathrooms are close to the bedrooms, with river stone washbasins and hot-water outdoor showers.

Food & drink

You’ll have all your meals prepared for you at Island Lodge, and the food is delicious – foraged, fished and hunted in your surroundings. Tuck into barbecued Atlantic red char and spring lamb in the safari-style dining room overlooking the sea, and cosy up by the open fireplace with a glass of wine.

Facilities

We recommend pre-booking the wood-fired hot tub, perched right by the water’s edge, and the floating sauna and massages – for a unique spa of experience. Wi-Fi is also available and there’s a lounge in what used to be the torpedo workshop.

Activities at Island Lodge

Go for walks along the secluded beaches, forage for mushrooms and blueberries in the birch and fir tree forest and enjoy a seal-spotting adventure as eagles soar overhead. Explore nearby islands on a sailing trip or by kayaking. You can also go fishing for your dinner.
