Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Standing tall over central Gothenburg, Upper House is within walking distance of all the main attractions of the city. A good view can be had through the pool’s glass floor during an evening swim.

Rooms at Upper House

Rooms are stylish and luxurious, with clean Nordic lines, modern furniture and tasteful, understated colour schemes. All rooms are bright and spacious and boast panoramic views over the city.

Food and drink

The food is served to a consistently high standard, serving up unique takes on traditional Nordic cuisine using only the finest seasonal ingredients – many of which are sourced from the vegetable garden (and beehive!) kept on the rooftop. Upper House was rewarded for the quality of its offerings in February 2016 with a Michelin star.

Facilities

The Spa offers a superb range of treatments, from traditional Hammam to alternative remedy treatments with everything in between, including massages, make up and beauty treatments. The rooftop pool features stunning views of the city, particularly at night when it’s lit up, as does the glass-walled, extensively-equipped gym.

Activities at Upper House

Liseberg amusement park, the largest of its kind in Scandinavia, is a great day out for adrenaline junkies and the more faint hearted alike, and is located across from the hotel. Kids will also love the Universeum, an immersive and educational experience about the natural world set in a faithfully recreated rainforest, with a shark tunnel and reptile house. For a more grown up cultural experience, head to the edgy Roda Sten, where contemporary photography and musical exhibits are housed in a disused power station.
