3 nightsPALMA

Your Mallorcan escape begins in Palma, the island’s capital and cultural hub. You’ll spend the first three nights of your trip at the stylish boutique hotel Sant Francesc Hotel Singular, which is housed in a grand 19th-century manor house. The hotel puts you in the perfect spot for exploring the historic streets of Palma’s old town, with the city’s mighty cathedral a short walk away. Overlooking the Mediterranean, this Gothic masterpiece dates back to the 13th century but has beautiful 1900s interiors courtesy of Gaudi, famous for his iconic buildings in Barcelona.

For an attraction which blends Palma’s past and present, head to Es Baluard, a modern art gallery built into the historic city walls. Picasso is among the iconic artists whose work is on display here. During your time in Palma, be sure to dive in to the city’s food scene, which has gained international attention in recent years. From traditional tapas bars to high-end Michelin-starred eateries, there are plenty of opportunities here to sample classic Mallorcan food; try the fragrant rice dish arros brut, and sobrassada – a Balearic cured sausage.

4 nightsDEIA

The second half of your time in Mallorca will be spent in Deia, on the west coast of Mallorca. A far cry from the buzzing capital Palma, this is a peaceful village which has long been a magnet for artists and writers. Anais Nin set a story here, and British poet Robert Graves made the town his home in the mid-20th century. Later it would become a favourite of rock musicians – Richard Branson had a mansion here where he would entertain the likes of Mick Jagger, who also enjoyed legendary jam sessions at Café Sa Fonda in town. You’ll spend four nights at the suitably stylish Belmond La Residencia, a luxurious hotel set in twin hillside villas surrounded by olive and lemon groves.

You’ll find everything you need here to experience the beauty and serenity that has made Deia famous. Enjoy a walking tour of Deia with a local art curator, take an art class with resident painter Alan Hydes, or, if you prefer to leave it to the professionals, have your portrait painted and go home with the ultimate souvenir. You can also meet the sculptor in residence, responsible for the beautiful artworks which dot the grounds, and enjoy an artistic workshop with them, or explore the world of pottery with a local ceramicist.

While art lovers will find no end of activities to occupy them at the hotel, make sure you get outside. Having explored the beautiful coastline on foot and by boat, get a different view with a hot air balloon or helicopter ride. Alternatively, learn to whip up Mallorcan classics at a cookery class, or visit the mountain village of Fornalutx on a Vespa excursion.

After four nights creating and exploring in Deia, your Mallorcan trip reaches its end, and you’ll be transferred back to Palma for your flight home.
