Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

In the heart of the popular seaside town of San Sebastián, on the Urumea River.

Rooms at Hotel Maria Cristina

There are nearly 150 elegant rooms and suites in soothing greys, eggshells and whites, providing a stylish haven. The beds have soft feather duvets, chandeliers hang from the high ceilings, contemporary artworks adorn the walls and the marble bathrooms have deep soaking tubs. Some have French doors opening out over pretty gardens, the river or the city skyline, while the suites have decadent living areas with marble fireplaces and terraces for relaxing on. The Royal Suites have stunning rooftop terraces with panoramic views.

The hotel has a culinary and wine centre celebrating Basque food and wine: learn how to make authentic pintxos and afterwards, buy local delicacies from the gourmet shop to take home.

Food & Drink

Start the day in style with a breakfast of fresh fruit, Basque cheeses and smoked salmon in the decadent Easo restaurant, feast on Asian cuisine in Cafe Saigon and enjoy pintxos (tapas) and colourful cocktails in the DRY bar (a favourite haunt of Hollywood star Bette Davis). San Sebastián is known for its gourmet scene and has a number of characterful bars and decadent Michelin-starred restaurants where you can also indulge in local specialities.

Activities at Hotel Maria Cristina

The Old Quarter is full of charming boutiques- why not take advantage of the hotel’s personal shopper service? The Victoria Eugenia theatre, another fine example of Belle Epoque architecture, is nearby, as is the majestic cathedral and Plaza de la Constitución, the heart of the historic city. You’re also just a short walk from the beautiful palm-fringed La Concha beach and Miramar Palace, a favourite of visiting royals.
