Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Next to Las Cabezas de San Juan, the Hacienda de San Rafael is nestled in the rolling plains of Andalucia, halfway between the historic cities of Seville and Jerez de la Frontera (each 25 miles away). To the east lie the white villages alongside the Sierra de Grazalema and to the west the Coto Donana National Park. It is also in a perfect location to visit the Alcazar in Seville or the Alhambra in Granada.

Rooms at Hacienda de San Rafael

The 11 elegantly-designed rooms are set around the bougainvillea-filled courtyard, and they have each been individually decorated by Kuky Mora-Figueroa using fabrics, antiques and artefacts from all over the world, from Indonesian ceramics to Moroccan rugs.

For something a little more special, there are three casitas offering the ultimate in rustic charm, each with a private garden and a marble bathroom, while the villas come with private pools overlooking the Andalucian hills. The lavish six-bedroom villa is perfect for families and larger groups.

Food & Drink

The food is local and hearty and the service is impeccable. There are endless possibilities for al fresco dining in the many covered or shaded areas around the estate – choose from the dining room, the courtyard, the garden, poolside or in the main pergola, and breakfast can be served on your veranda in the sunshine.

The dining room has a homely feel, complemented by the delicious meals, which feature fresh local produce, some of which comes from the gardens. The barbecues are legendary.

Facilities

After a game of tennis, cool off in one of the three pools in the gardens, and wind down with a massage or some yoga.

Activities at Hacienda de San Rafael

For a flavour of the ‘real’ Andalucia, wine tasting tours can be organised, and you can taste rare sherries in one of the oldest bodegas in Jerez, dating back centuries. Get off the beaten track with a fulfilling horse riding experience at a local finca or a hike in the countryside in the company of a private guide.

Visit the famous ‘white villages’, relax on unspoilt beaches, sail around the historic bay of Cadiz, go birdwatching or experience a hot air balloon ride to see the beautiful landscapes of Andalucia from above. You should also take the opportunity to enjoy an evening of colourful flamenco dancing.

Each experience has a personal touch and no request is too much for the team at Hacienda de San Rafael.
