Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Vidago Palace is set in the peaceful surroundings of Vidago Park, a lush area of paths, ponds and ancient trees which makes for a serene afternoon stroll. The park has a vegetable garden which grows ingredients for the hotel’s restaurants, and an organic farm.

Rooms at Vidago Palace

The hotel’s 70 rooms and suites share an elegant, Belle Epoque décor, with high moulded ceilings, wooden floors and antique furnishings. The walls are painted in subtle, tasteful tones like duck egg and almond green, and murals depict natural scenes reflecting the hotel’s rural location. Large wooden window shutters open to reveal beautiful views over the park. The lovely bathrooms are decked out with mosaic tiling and feature huge, luxurious freestanding bathtubs plus luxury Molton Brown toiletries.

Food & Drink

With no fewer than six eating and drinking venues, there’s no danger of going hungry at Vidago Palace. The Grand Ballroom, the hotel’s main restaurant, is a suitably impressive space, with high ceilings, plush carpets and traditional décor - the food follows suit, with classic Portuguese and European dishes such as Azores squid, quail and smoked sweet blood chorizo, and Galician octopus among the dishes on offer.

The Winter Garden is a similarly grandiose space where you can enjoy sumptuous breakfasts of pastries, fresh fruits and cooked options, while the Club House has a more relaxed offering of steaks, salads and sandwiches. For a classy afternoon tea, head to the Four Seasons Room, or enjoy an outdoor cocktail at the Pool Bar. The Wine Cellar offers a wide range of local and international wines alongside delicious tapas plates.

Facilities

The hotel’s vast Thermal Spa is a beautiful space, designed by renowned architect Siza Vieira. Treatments on offer include massage therapies using Vidago mineral water, reflexology and shiatsu, and facilities include outdoor and indoor pools, a Turkish bath and a sauna.

At the state-of-the-art gym, you can take your workout to the next level with a personal trainer, or enjoy a session of Pilates, yoga or meditation.

Activities at Vidago Palace

The hotel’s unique location in Vidago Park makes it perfect for enjoying some outdoor activities. The park’s walking and biking trails are reserved for the exclusive use of hotel guests, while tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course are among the sporting facilities you’ll find here. If you’re looking to improve your swing, golf clinics are also available.

Visit the natural thermal springs, whose nutrient-rich mineral water is used in the hotel’s spa treatments, where you can taste some of the health-giving water for yourself. The hotel can also arrange a number of tours to local vineyards and the Roman city of Chaves.
