Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

This beautiful resort is in the heart of Portugal’s stunning Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an hour's drive from Porto.

Rooms at Six Senses Douro Valley

The rooms, villas and suites showcase the signature Six Senses style, with natural features and earthy tones, and have panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards, woodlands and the Douro River. Some have spacious living, kitchen and dining areas, alongside private pools and gardens perfect for relaxing in with a glass of the region's finest wine as you take in the sweeping vistas.

Food & Drink

Dine on gourmet cuisine prepared with fresh, seasonal produce from the valley, alongside vegetables and herbs grown in the resort's own organic gardens, and washed down with local wine, of course. The traditional-style restaurant has an open cooking station and a wood-fired oven, or tuck into delicious tapas and local cheeses at Quinta. For an extra-special and personal experience, dine at the Chef's Table.

Facilities

Indulge in the Six Senses spa, where experts offer a variety of treatments to help guests unwind. From holistic treatments and alternative medicines to facials and massages, it will be hard to leave without feeling rejuvenated.

Activities at Six Senses Douro Valley

Wine tasting is (in our view) essential and there are a number of nearby wineries (quintas) where you can sample some local vintages, meet the winemakers and participate in the age-old tradition of stomping on the grapes. Go on a bike tour and take a picnic for an idyllic day out, and enjoy a leisurely wine and dine cruise on the river. Explore the historic monasteries and baroque churches, and visit fascinating museums. For something more active, go canyoning or mountain biking.
