Norway, meaning the ‘path to the North’, turns into a snow-clad paradise in winter and flying into Oslo, you’ll drive to its heartland for five nights of fairytale-like accommodation, Nordic culture and sights to last a lifetime. Squeezed between the Heggefjord and mountainous Jotunheimen National Park, Herangtunet will be your home for the duration and provides the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure.

Pull on some snowshoes and travel cross country through the bleached scenery, pet the inexhaustible husky dogs before they slid you over lakes, through forests and over open plains or get into the festive spirit and take a horse-drawn sleigh ride complete with jingle bells and reindeer skins. Shake off the cobwebs in the morning with a snowball fight and then drive to the nearby national park to stand beneath Norway’s highest mountains, Galhopiggen. With hundreds of hiking routes, ravine-like valleys with deep lakes and 60 glaciers, a trip to Jotunheimen National Park is a must whether on foot or by taking a scenic helicopter flight over its snowy peaks – a trip your kids will never forget.
