Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Reflecting its centuries-old history, Hotel Union Oye has a traditional, elegant feel, from its interiors to its personalised service. Even more beautiful than the hotel itself, the serene surroundings of snow-capped mountains and plunging fjords are simply stunning.

Rooms at Hotel Union Oye

The rooms and suites are opulent and traditional in design, with each one uniquely decorated with antique furnishings. Each one is also named after one of the hotel’s esteemed former guests, such as Kaiser Wilhelm, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Henrik Ibsen and Roald Amundsen, and the style and character of the rooms have remained true to how they would have been when they stayed here.

Food & drink

Just like the rest of the hotel, dining at Hotel Union Oye is a traditional affair, with the three-course evening meal the main event of the day. The menu is comprised of classic Norwegian and international dishes and is served in the refined dining room. Packed lunches can be made for you to take with you on your outdoorsy excursions.

Facilities

Relax in the lounge with a cup of coffee in the morning or after a day's exploring.

Activities at Hotel Union Oye

Bikes and canoes are available to borrow for free from the hotel and are a brilliant way to explore the village of Oye and the surrounding scenery. Various excursions into the beautiful surrounding scenery can be arranged from the hotel. Throughout the summer months there are daily boat trips down the Hjorundfjord and the Geirangerfjord, two of the most beautiful and famous fjords in the country.

Beautiful views of the fjords can be taken in from the summit of the nearby Slogen mountain, which is a day’s hike, or helicopter sightseeing tours are an easier and more glamorous way to take everything in from the skies. Kayaking and snorkelling are also available in the summer, with mountain and cross-country options in the winter.
