Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Hotel Brosundet enjoys a beautiful location right on Alesund’s waterfront. It is housed in historic Art Nouveau buildings, and with a primary focus on art and design, past-meets-present style and artistry are everywhere in this hotel, thanks to its work with world-renowned architects.

Rooms at Hotel Brosundet

There are over 100 rooms and suites at Hotel Brosundet, which are a meeting of the rustic and the contemporary; exposed beams and stonework are a nod to the building’s long history, while the furnishings and décor are modern and elegant. You can also stay in Molja Lighthouse, a five-minute walk from the rest of the hotel at the end of a jetty, which offers a truly unique way to spend your time in Alesund. Wake up to sweeping views over the Atlantic and enjoy a gourmet breakfast basket.

Food & Drink

Restaurant MAKI is housed in a former klipfish-processing warehouse which pays tribute to its history with an ever-changing menu of fresh seafood dishes, based on catches of the day from Sunnmore. Meanwhile, at the stylish Brosundet Bar, you can kick back with a drink from the extensive cocktail, wine and beer menus, and enjoy engaging in the lost art of conversation - loud music is banned to facilitate just that.

Bikes are available to borrow free of charge from the hotel, and are a great way to explore the interconnected islands and colourful streets of Alesund. Ski passes can also be bought from the hotel during the winter months. In the evening, relax by the fire in the cosy lounge.

Activities at Hotel Brosundet

Alesund’s colourful Art Nouveau buildings, including those of the Hotel Brosundet, are the result of a regeneration after a devastating fire in 1904, the story of which is told at the Art Nouveau Centre.

The hotel is also a great starting point for exploring the beautiful scenery beyond Alesund: trek around the Sunnmore Alps and fjords and be rewarded with beautiful views, explore by boat or kayak and see puffins and seal colonies, or go fishing and eat your catch of the day in the restaurant. To see the mountains and fjords from above, enjoy a scenic helicopter tour.
