The Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret is housed in a new baroque, neoclassical-style 1920s building opposite the city’s famous colourful quay and perfect for exploring the city’s best restaurants, shops and cultural attractions.

The rooms and suites are decorated in much the same style as the rest of the hotel, with a mix of traditional furnishings and modern decorative touches, and rich colour scheme of dark browns and golds with splashes of regal purple. Rooms overlook either the hotel courtyard or the famous Bryggen quay.

Food & drink

Breakfast is included in your room rate and is an extensive affair, with organic options also available. If you’re hungry come mid-afternoon, you’re welcome to help yourself to tea and coffee, accompanied by complimentary home-made goodies. Also included is an evening meal, with soups, salads, hot dishes and desserts on offer on a buffet basis every evening.

Facilities

The hotel has a small gym with fitness and strength equipment, so you can stay on top of your regime during your stay, and the hotel can also provide maps and advice on local walking and jogging trails. There is a wellness centre with a sauna, steam bath and relaxation area to enjoy after a day outdoors.

The colourful wooden shopfronts of Bryggen’s old trading wharf are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the wooden alleys and walkways are home to many of Bergen’s artists and craftspeople, with all kinds of one-off souvenirs available at the many boutiques. Bergen is also home to many museums and galleries, and the KODE series exhibit a range of art, craft, design and music over galleries 1, 2, 3 and 4. KODE 3 contains a large collection of the works of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch.
