Brekkeseter

A collection of wooden buildings and historic, moss covered log cabins, some of which are hundreds of years old, Brekkeseter has a historic feel but has been renovated to be cosy and comfortable. The hotel is on the edge of Rondane National Park, an untouched and beautiful wilderness.

There are twelve rooms in the main hotel building and twenty freestanding timber cabins, many of which have a long history; the oldest dates from the 1700s. The cabins have been restored, with the help of local craftsmen, to be comfortable and luxurious while retaining their historic atmosphere and character. Each of the cabins are unique, with many blending in to the environment thanks to their moss-covered roofs; most feature large stone fireplaces and kitchen facilities.

Breakfast at Brekkeseter is an extensive buffet, featuring homemade breads, fresh fruit and berries, and meats, fish and cheeses. You’re invited to use the breakfast buffet to make a packed lunch to take with you on your excursions. Dinner is a three-course affair based on local game, fish and vegetables from the surrounding countryside.

Most of the cabins feature kitchen facilities, and barbecue equipment can also be provided. There’s a garden, terrace and playground where kids can let off some steam, and there are three bookable saunas on site. Table tennis and pool tables are also available. Staff are happy to help you arrange any outdoor activities you have in mind and will provide maps and advice.

Brekkeseter is located right on the boundary of Rondane National Park, an untouched wilderness ripe for exploration with a rich ecosystem. The park can be explored on foot or on horseback, with knowledgeable guides available to teach you about the flora and fauna. This is also a great spot for bird watching and nature photography, with bluethroats, eared owls and the prehistoric musk ox among the creatures who make their homes here.
