Hotel Overview

Sense of place

In a beautiful pine lodge with a grass-covered roof overlooking the fjord, Lyngen Lodge is an atmospheric, cosy retreat from which to explore the beauty of the Arctic surroundings. Sporty owners Graham and Elisabeth will gladly offer tips on how best to enjoy the myriad outdoor activities on offer in the area.

Rooms at Lyngen Lodge

The eight rooms and suites at Lyngen Lodge have an atmosphere of Arctic luxury, crafted from pine, timber and stone with wood-panelled walls, dark furnishings and fur rugs and throws to cosy up to in the cold winter evenings. The cosy atmosphere of the pine lodge is compounded by geothermic heating and its distinctive grass roof, which provides extra, natural insulation.

Food & drink

Food at Lyngen Lodge reflects the hotel’s secluded coastal location, with an emphasis on fresh seasonal produce such as reindeer, lamb, and fish straight out of the fjord. Dishes change regularly according to the seasonal offerings. The hotel also has an extensive wine cellar and will recommend appropriate pairings for your meal.

Facilities

Lyngen Lodge features a sauna and an outdoor hot tub, both great places to warm up after a day in the Arctic wilderness. There’s also a cosy library, an inviting space with its open log fire and characterful furnishings, where you can curl up with a glass of wine and admire the view of the Lyngen Alps beyond.

Activities at Lyngen Lodge

The dramatic landscapes beg to be explored, whether that's snow-shoeing through the forest, dog-sledding or snowmobiling across a frozen lake in the magical winter. In summer, the area is fantastic for hiking, and comes alive with blossoming flowers and birds fluttering through the trees. Fish for cod, halibut, catfish and more in the fjord or simply glide across on a boat trip to take in the incredible scenery.
