Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Starting in London, travel to Paris and on to Venice, Prague, Vienna or Budapest - or follow the train’s inaugural 1833 journey all the way to exotic Istanbul. Venice is a popular destination - arriving by this stylish train, crossing the lagoon and emerging onto the breathtaking Grand Canal, is a perfect introduction to this beautiful city.

Tailor-made itineraries and sightseeing trips, from city tours to cruises, can also be arranged - just ask us for details.

Rooms onboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The decadent Art Deco interiors have been lovingly restored to their former glory, with plush fabrics, sparkling crystal and polished woods. A steward will attend to your every need throughout the trip and treat you like royalty - just sit back in your vintage cabin, relax and enjoy the views, from the Swiss Alps to the Italian Dolomites, as you make your way to your destination.

At night, your banquette is transformed into a comfortable bedroom with crisp damask sheets and cosy blankets - book a suite (formed of two interconnecting cabins) for extra space. There are washbasins in each cabin, and mosaic-tiled toilets at the end of every carriage.

For the ultimate Orient Express experience, there are also decadent and glamorous Grand Suites which have plush double beds and private marble bathrooms with showers. Each one is inspired by an iconic city on the train's route - including Paris, Venice and Istanbul - and they feature bespoke touches such as Lalique lamps and antique tables.

Food & Drink

Gourmet European cuisine is prepared in the train’s kitchen, with fresh ingredients brought onboard at stops along the route. There are three 1920s restaurant cars, each with their own style - Côte d’Azur has Lalique glass panels displaying classical figures, Etoile du Nord features patterned marquetry and L’Oriental is decorated with black lacquer. Tuck into lavish breakfasts, exquisite three-course lunches and delicious four-course dinners, accompanied by fine wines, while the afternoon teas are a highlight.

Activities onboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The beautiful Art Nouveau-style Bar Car is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail, accompanied by a pianist (order the signature Agatha Christie cocktail). As well as musicians, you may find yourself entertained by magicians. Head to the elegant Champagne Bar, which evokes the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties, for a glass of vintage champagne.

Visit the boutique for luxurious souvenirs such as hand-blown French crystal and pure silk scarves.
