Hotel Overview

Sense of place

While Sardinia is often associated with white sand and sea, a stay at Su Gologone allows you to experience another side to the island. A whitewashed villa perched high in the mountains inland, this is a luxurious hotel in a stunning location overlooking a valley and gorge.

Rooms at Su Gologone

Rooms and suites are luxurious while retaining the rustic feel of the exterior, with whitewashed walls and prominent wooden beams and features. The rooms are decorated with pieces that reflect the artistic traditions of Sardinia, such as orbace shepherd’s wool and artisanal wood carving. No two rooms are the same, and the Junior Art Suites are each dedicated to a great Sardinian artist of the 20th century, and are decorated to reflect their individual artistic styles.

Food and drink

Su Gologone actually began life as a restaurant in 1967, which proved to be so popular that the family opened a hotel to accommodate the never-ending stream of guests. It should come as no surprise, then, that the food here is superb, with the main restaurant serving generous portions of hearty rustic Sardinian cuisine. Much of the produce comes from the hotel’s own farm and vegetable garden.

Facilities

Su Gologone is named after a natural spring of the same name which lies nearby, and it is water from this spring which fills the hotel’s beautiful outdoor pool. There are also two hydromassage tubs, one of them surrounded by olive trees, and a gym and beauty studio. There are also yoga sessions and reiki treatments available.

Activities at Su Gologone

The hotel’s remote location needn’t be a cause for concern given the variety of activities it has to offer. It has its own collection of art from 19th and 20th century Sardinian artists alongside local folk art and pieces of craftsmanship. The hotel also has two wine cellars where tasting sessions are held, and cookery classes are available in the kitchens. Around the hotel, you can explore the beautiful mountain landscapes on foot, by bike, or on guided Land Rover and quad bike tours.
