Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Housed in a beautiful small villa in the lush greenery of the world’s largest archaeological park, Appia Antica is steeped in history. While the villa itself is far from ancient, dating from the 1950s, history buffs will love their surroundings here, with ancient stones lining the quiet footpaths and the remains of the famous Appian Way on your doorstep.

Rooms at Appia Antica

The villa is split into three apartments, each of which is tastefully decorated in a modern style with artistic touches. With plenty of space and a fully outfitted kitchen, the apartments provide a home-away-from-home atmosphere, which is carefully fostered by the friendly owners, Maurizio and Maria Luisa.

Food and drink

The apartments are largely self-catered, although a varied breakfast is served in the communal dining room every morning. Maurizio and Maria Luisa are happy to recommend their pick of the fine array of restaurants in the area, and can also arrange private cooking classes with a local chef where you can learn how to whip up classics of Italian cuisine.

Facilities

Children are well catered-for at Appia Antica, making it a great resort for a family trip to Rome. Educational workshops are put on to teach kids about the history of Rome, with games, stories, and music – there’s even arts and crafts sessions where kids can make a souvenir of their trip. This service also means that adults can have a little time to themselves to explore the Eternal City, knowing that their children are being well looked after at the resort.

Activities at Appia Antica

The remains of the Appian Way, one of the most strategically important roads in Ancient Rome, pass some beautiful landscapes and architectural features, like ancient aqueducts and sacred groves. The famous sites of Rome, such as the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, are easily accessible from the resort.
