Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Located in the heart of Monopoli’s historic centre, Don Ferrante offers magnificent views of the Mediterranean. Born of the sea and with a charming paese vecchio full of winding alleys, ancient piazzas, palaces and ocean fortresses, Monopoli’s rich history is visible at every turn.

Rooms at Don Ferrante

The elegant rooms and suites have vaulted travertine ceilings, limestone floors, vintage furniture and handmade ceramics, with balconies overlooking the sea. They are a perfect sanctuary to lose yourself in after soaking up the Mediterranean sun all day – in the evening, sip your complimentary prosecco and watch the sun set into the ocean. We love the Don Ferrante Suite, perched just above the water.

Food & Drink

Rarely can you say you’ve started your day in a 16th-century gunpowder cellar: enjoy a breakfast of freshly baked pastries, cheeses, cold meats and Italian coffee in this distinctive setting. You can also head to the charming rooftop terrace of the Locanda Don Ferrante restaurant for irresistible Puglian dishes for lunch and dinner in the warmer months. The menu changes every month to make the most of seasonal local seafood and fresh produce. With a cocktail in hand, savour the flavours as you soak up the sweeping sea views.

Facilities

There is a rooftop plunge pool nestled next to a towering stone wall, looking out onto the horizon, and you can linger on one of the sun loungers or unwind with a massage.

Activities at Don Ferrante

Indulge in food, wine and oil tastings in local masserias, take a Puglian cooking class or soak up the sights on a tour of the picturesque town and its ancient landmarks in the hotel’s tuk tuk. Alternatively, simply wander its narrow streets to the harbour and coast, where you can relax and tuck your feet into the golden sand, and watch the fishermen bringing in the catch of the day.

You can also go horse riding along the beach and enjoy scenic boat trips around the coast, and further afield, visit the stalactite and stalagmite-filled caves of Castellana, and UNESCO-listed sites such as the fairytale-like trulli houses in Alberobello and the 12th-century Castel del Monte.
