Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Set in a miniature 900-year-old castle atop the colourful village of Sinio, Hotel Castello di Sinio has a fairytale quality. But for all its aesthetic appeal it is its friendly atmosphere which makes this hotel special, and owner Denise Pardini, who restored the hotel and is also the chef, somehow makes time to be front of house as well.

Rooms at Hotel Castello di Sinio

Rooms at Castello di Sinio reflect the building’s history, with exposed brickwork and wooden beams giving a rustic feel, but are elegantly furnished and supremely comfortable. Like the rest of Sinio – known for good reason as the ‘Village of Flowers’ – there are window boxes overflowing with flora everywhere you look, and higher rooms have lovely views of the village piazza, church and clock tower.

Food and drink

Owner Denise was born in San Francisco but her family has roots in this area, and the cuisine served up in the hotel’s restaurant pays artful tribute to traditional Piedmontese cooking. The hotel’s location, right in the heart of the Barolo and Barbaresco wine producing areas, is perfect for experiencing the region’s rich produce, and the hotel can organise private tasting appointments.

Facilities and Activities at Hotel Castello di Sinio

The hotel features a small wellness area with gym equipment and a sauna. Please be advised that only children over the age of ten can stay at the hotel. Cooking classes can be arranged with Denise, who will guide you through the hotel garden to pick fresh produce which you’ll then learn how to whip up into delicious Italian meals. A range of fantastic experiences are also available outside the hotel, such as chauffeured wine tours and tastings, and a hunt for the elusive white truffle in the Alba hills. A great way to get to know Sinio and the beautiful surrounding countryside is with a private open air tour in an Apetta, a 1960s style rickshaw. You can also rent a classic Italian Vespa for a self-drive tour through the vineyards and the villages of Barolo.
