Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Right in the heart of Sorrento, Grand Hotel de la Ville is a smart but relaxed hotel with a beautiful roof terrace offering stunning views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.

Rooms at Grand Hotel de la Ville

The rooms and suites are elegantly designed, with marble and beautifully tiled Vietri flooring and custom furniture inlaid with intricate local woodwork. Each room has a balcony, overlooking either the ocean or the hotel’s gardens.

Food & drink

The hotel’s restaurants, L’Altea and La Camelia, serve delicious Mediterranean and international food which adds creative modern touches to traditional dishes. A wide selection of local pastries are on offer as well as the hotel’s very own delicious home-made ice cream.

The main bar, La Magnolia, is a stylish space where you can enjoy a drink or light lunch. At the Hibiscus bar, located on the roof terrace, you can relax with a light lunch or cocktail as you take in the beautiful view. The garden has a snack bar and grill which is open during the afternoon. From May to October, the terrace plays host to a traditional Sorrento evening meal every week, with live music, dance and other entertainment.

Facilities

As well as the scenic rooftop pool, guests have access to a private beach a short walk from the hotel. There’s also a second pool located in the hotel’s small garden, and a small courtyard with lemon trees and a wishing well where guests can relax.

Activities at Grand Hotel de la Ville

Half-day tours can be arranged to nearby Pompeii, destroyed and preserved by the ash of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Also worth a visit is the Museo Corrale, whose eclectic collections include ancient Greek and Roman artefacts and Japanese, Chinese and European ceramics, clocks and furniture. Sorrento’s harbour, Marina Grande, is a beautiful and tranquil spot with a range of quality restaurants lining the waterfront.
