Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Grand Hotel Continental is just a short walk from the Piazza del Campo and Il Duomo, in the centre of Siena.

Rooms at Grand Hotel Continental

The hotel's interiors certainly have the wow factor. The frescoes adorning the Salone del Feste, the ceremonial hall, are astonishing, recalling the Sistine Chapel. The lavish rooms and suites are each individually styled and have unique and refined character, featuring frescoed vaulted ceilings or exposed wooden beams, Tuscan cotto tiled floors, valuable prints and paintings and splendid period furniture.

Some suites also include added luxuries including separate lounges, marbled bathrooms and terraces that are perfect to take in the historic city around you after a day's exploring. The Royal Suite is particularly dashing.

Food & Drink

Expect the finest Tuscan cuisine at the Sapordivino restaurant, led by distinguished chefs. Experimenting with traditional cooking, the creations are praised for being utterly unique yet loyal to their regional roots. The restaurant’s setting is rather special, too, with a pretty courtyard and a spectacular glass cupola. Go on a memorable gastronomic journey, accompanied by delectable cocktails.

For light refreshment, head to the excellent Sapordivino wine bar in the medieval cellars, to sample prestigious vintages, enjoyed with Tuscan cheeses and cold cuts. For more intimate moments, the silent beauty of the winter garden in the covered courtyard is the place to go.

Activities at Grand Hotel Continental

Wind your way through Siena’s enchanting, Gothic streets in the historic centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and duck into the town’s resplendent cathedral, the Duomo, with a stunning facade and exquisitely paved marble floor.

The hotel organises fantastic gastronomic experiences, such as truffle hunting in the Crete Senesi countryside. You’ll forage for these rare culinary treasures with the help of an expert guide, before settling down to devour a truffle-inspired lunch or dinner in a traditional farmhouse.
