Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Castel Monastero is just 20 minutes' drive from Siena, nestled in the scenic countryside of the Ombrone Valley and surrounded by vineyards.

Rooms at Castel Monastero

Castel Monastero has 75 rooms, suites and a villa of various sizes dotted around the village and surrounding gardens. The rooms are decorated with neutral colours and original materials in a Tuscan country style, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere. The rooms look out to the vineyard, the village or the medieval piazza. Try rooms in the tower or next to a little church standing inside the medieval walls.

Food & Drink

Sample delicious food at the elegant La Contrada, with gastronomic dining and menus created by Gordon Ramsay. La Cantina, set in the medieval wine cellars, provides excellent wines and a local delicatessen. The bar offers excellent local Tuscan wines as well as evening entertainment.

Facilities

The spa is truly fantastic, with a wide range of treatments from massages to detox programmes, as well as indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the village.

Activities at Castel Monastero

Don’t miss a delicious tasting of wines, oils and cheeses every Sunday in the piazza, with local producers showcasing their products. Other activities include tennis, yoga, biking, truffle hunting in the woods, scenic hot air balloon trips over the Chianti hills and private guided tours to Pienza, Montalcino and Siena. Opera fans will love an evening of opera in the grounds of the castle, while if you love fashion, go shopping with your very own personal shopper.

Castel Monastero has its own helipad, so you can also indulge in a range of helicopter trips, with day tours including wine tasting in local wineries and lunch at a Michelin-star restaurant.
