The most spacious option is the beautiful mountain huts, built from local wood, with running water and a kitchenette.

Having worked up an appetite on a tiring hike, the LavaGrill restaurant is a welcoming space with a range of traditional Icelandic country cuisine to sate your hunger. At breakfast, you can load up on energy for the day ahead with a hearty selection of fruit, bread, pastries and cold cuts, with a range of salads, soups and sandwiches on offer at lunch. Dinner is a multi-course affair of locally reared meat or fish, with fresh vegetables and homemade bread. Packed lunches will be prepared for you to take on long hikes.

Activities at Volcano Huts

The volcanic landscapes of Thorsmork Park are criss-crossed with hiking trails to suit those of all abilities, whether you’re a seasoned walker or want to take things easy - a highlight is the Laugavegur Trail, which is often described as one of the most beautiful hikes in the world. As well as being immersed in spectacular landscapes of volcanoes, mountain peaks and valleys, you can also see wildlife such as arctic foxes.

For many people, the main event is after dark, when the skies fill with nature’s greatest light show during the winter months, the Northern Lights. The dark skies and quiet of Thorsmork make it perfect for a spectacular showing.
