Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The distinctive Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful square of Austurvollur, in the heart of Reykjavik, with attractions such as the cathedral and Parliament House nearby, while numerous shops, cafés and restaurants are within walking distance.

Rooms at Hotel Borg

Hotel Borg is a pure showcase of Art Deco throughout, and this extends to the chic rooms and suites, which retain their original character while exhibiting the most up-to-date standards of comfort and luxury. The style and decor will transport you back to the era of the hotel’s early days in the 1920s and 1930s, with geometric shapes and elegant cream and coffee shades. The walls are adorned with black and white photographs of scenes from Reykjavik’s past, which only adds to the nostalgic atmosphere. Some come with panoramic views over the city.

Food & Drink

Wake up to a delicious breakfast before heading out to explore, and on your return from a day's sightseeing, enjoy the adventurous Icelandic cuisine at the hotel’s restaurant, a stunning mix of vintage decor and modern fare, brought together in an ever-changing menu created by expert chefs using the freshest fish, lamb and beef cuts.

End your night by heading to the hotel’s elegant bar – in a league of its own, the bar handcrafts cocktails with homemade syrups and bitters - or if you prefer, it also has one of the greatest wine selections in the capital.

Facilities

There is a lovely spa, complete with a hot tub and a sauna, and you can indulge in a facial or a massage - perfect for relaxing after discovering Reykjavik's many charms. If you prefer to get active with a workout though, there is also a fitness room.

Activities at Hotel Borg

Hotel Borg is just across the road from Althingi, the Icelandic parliament, which is the oldest continuous parliament in the world, having been founded in 930. Every session of parliament begins with mass at Reykjavik Cathedral a short walk away, which is also centuries old and is well worth a visit.

Any stay in Reykjavik should also take in Iceland’s breathtaking natural surroundings, and as the world’s northernmost capital city, it’s one of the most popular bases for a visit to see the aurora borealis – the Northern Lights.
