Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Brimslod Atelier sits by the sea in Blonduos, and allows you to immerse yourself in the rural Icelandic scene, from taking in the Northern Lights and hiking glaciers to foraging for your supper.

Rooms at Brimslod Atelier

Brimslod Atelier’s rooms combine rustic cabin cosiness with a chic luxurious design; the ceilings and floors are made of beautiful panelled wood, lending the rooms an organic air, while an arty aesthetic is provided by the quirky light fittings and other design features.

Food & Drink

The hotel’s owners are passionate foodies who have even published their own cookbooks, so cuisine is high on the agenda here. Each morning, a traditional Icelandic breakfast will ensure you get the energy you need for a day’s adventures in the great outdoors, with a hearty spread of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries and fruits alongside healthy goodies like homemade yoghurt. The main event, though, is dinner, a sumptuous three-course affair of home-cooked Icelandic classics made from fresh local ingredients.

Facilities

Owners Inga and Gisli are committed not only to traditional Icelandic food but also its relationship to the natural world – and they also love teaching guests all about it in regular workshops. You’ll learn about how people have foraged, preserved and prepared their food here for centuries – and then, of course, get involved yourself, culminating in a delicious three-course meal.

Activities at Brimslod Atelier

The natural geothermal pools, rivers and lakes of rural Iceland are on your doorstep, while back at the hotel, there’s a cosy lounge where you can meet fellow guests and swap stories of your adventures, before heading outdoors to witness one of nature's most spectacular shows, the colourful Northern Lights.
