Perfect forAdventurous families looking for the ultimate summer adventure in Iceland.
In the knowWhile this is a classic summer adventure, this trip can easily be customised for winter departures - visit Iceland on a spectacular October half-term break or Christmas/New Year family holiday, and experience the magic of the Northern Lights in this winter wonderland.

Itinerary details

Langjokull glacier, Iceland

Touch down in Reykjavik, where you’ll stay in a stylish apartment at the award-winning Black Pearl Apartments, with plenty of space for all the family in your perfect home-from-home. You'll be right in the centre of the city, not far from the historic harbour, making it perfect for sightseeing and exploring – and many attractions can be easily reached on foot.

Included in your stay here is a private whale-watching tour – set sail from the harbour to see these magnificent beasts in the Atlantic. As you will be onboard a private RIB, the speed can be adapted to suit you and your family: it can go at a slower pace if required, making it ideal for younger children. See dolphins and a wide variety of birdlife as well as whales in the summer months, which flourish in the long days and bright nights of a typical Icelandic summer.

Back on land, you'll get to venture deep into the heart of the Langjokull glacier, the second-largest glacier in Iceland, heading through a man-made ice tunnel – an unforgettable experience. Your day tour in a super jeep will also include a trip to the historic UNESCO-listed Thingvellir, where the North-America and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart, and you’ll see some of Iceland’s many lava fields, rivers, waterfalls and natural hot springs, which are dotted around the countryside.

Icelandic horses, Iceland

2 NIGHTSGolden Circle

After Reykjavik, you’ll make your way to the Icelandic countryside in the Golden Circle to Hotel Grimsborgir, nestled in a spectacular setting surrounded by lava fields, glaciers and geysers (and a prime spot for viewing the Northern Lights if you visit in winter).

Enjoy a classic tour of the Golden Circle’s big hitters, including the striking Gullfoss waterfall, which thunders from a great height into a deep gorge, and the otherworldly Geysir geothermal area, where you can see spouting geysers, hot springs and smoking steam vents. Walk into the 3,000-year-old Kerid volcanic crater – a spectacular photo opportunity!

Horse riding is an ideal way to experience Iceland’s beautiful landscapes. Experience first-hand how the sturdy and faithful Icelandic horses are rather unique in the way they move: they are said to have five unique gaits, including what is known as the tolt, a natural, fluid gait in which at least one foot is always touching the ground. It results in a very smooth, almost bounce-free ride – perfect for younger members of the family.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Iceland

Today, head to the south coast on another fantastic private super jeep trip to visit the Skogafoss waterfall (where you may see a double rainbow through the spray on a sunny day) and walk behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall for a more unusual and thrilling viewpoint of the water flowing down and another great photo opportunity. Witness the infamous Eyjafjallajokull glacier and the vast Myrdalsjokull glacier, which feeds into the glacier of Solheimajokull. During an easy and safe hike, accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll be able to see how the landscape is dramatically created by these glaciers as they form and retreat.

You’ll spend a final night of luxurious relaxation at the Black Pearl Apartments in Reykjavik.
