Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Perched in the hills outside the Greek coastal village of Kardamili, Notos is a collection of comfortable apartments and the perfect base from which to explore this quiet, picturesque region. Owners Giorgios and Maria speak excellent English and are helpful and friendly, in line with the family atmosphere of the hotel.

Rooms at Notos

Notos is comprised of 14 apartments and studios, suitable for families and couples. The apartments are simple and comfortable, contemporary in design and featuring fully equipped kitchens. They also each have a private balcony or veranda from which to take in the eye-catching rock formations and vegetation which comprise the scenery.

Food and drink

The family who own Notos also run Lela’s Taverna in Kardamili, which serves up traditional Greek cuisine in a homely atmosphere, with beautiful views from the terrace overlooking the sea. With no menus, you have an ever-changing selection of daily specials to choose from, with recipes handed down the generations from Lela herself – the current chef’s grandmother.

Facilities

Notos is family friendly and kids of all ages are welcome; cots are available and extra beds can also be arranged at a discounted price. Pets are also welcome, by prior arrangement. There’s no spa or gym, and no swimming pool – but with the sea at your doorstep, who needs one? If you can tear yourself away from Lela’s and Kardamili’s other tavernas and restaurants, the apartments each have a full kitchen so you can self-cater should you wish.

Activities at Notos

The sleepy hillsides surrounding Kardimili are carpeted with olive groves and dotted with Byzantine chapels and monasteries, such as Ayia Sofia and Likaki monastery. Giorgios can give advice about walking and hiking routes and maps. The best way to take in the beautiful coastline is from the water, and if you hire a fishing boat you can explore nearby coves and villages, or a little further afield to the stunning caves of Pirgos Dirou.
