Carpe Diem Santorini

Carpe Diem is nestled on the hillside of the medieval village of Pyrgos, Santorini’s highest village, looking out over the island.

Carpe Diem has been thoughtfully and elegantly designed, combining inspiration from traditional Cycladic architecture with modern touches, including distinctive features such as thick black volcanic stone walls, handmade floors made with natural materials and carefully selected lighting to maximise the sense of privacy and the views. 

There are just 10 luxury suites, which are some of the largest on the island at up to 120 square metres. They are each unique and come with stunning minimalist white interiors and private pools, and you can take in the views of both sunrise and sunset from a sunlounger on your equally generously-sized terrace - the hotel faces north, ensuring sunshine throughout the day.

The butler service (there is a staff to guest ratio of 1:1) means you don’t have to lift a finger, and, depending on which suite you choose, extras include Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems, iPad Pros, handpicked vinyl collections and your own champagne or wine bar.  

The excellent restaurant, which is exclusive to guests, takes traditional island flavours to a whole new level. At lunchtime, enjoy the 270 Degrees experience, savouring authentic local food alongside fine wines, and tuck into Greek meze snacks and signature sunset cocktails by the pool, while in the evening, GAIA Fine Dining offers an unforgettable and irresistibly romantic dining experience under the stars, featuring the finest and most authentic local ingredients, reflecting the rich history of the area.

There is a lovely infinity pool to cool off in or relax by, and a boutique spa, Althea, designed just for two, where you can pamper yourself with a massage or a facial, using natural Greek products, or unwind in the Jacuzzi, the hammam or the sauna.

The unspoilt village of Pyrgos is the former medieval capital of the island, where members of the aristocracy lived and traded with other kingdoms and islands, and you can get a taste of that aristocratic lifestyle today, as you discover its historic churches, dine at world-class restaurants such as Selene, and admire the ever-present views. Pyrgos is also Santorini’s cultural hub - it hosts several arts events, including the international Santorini Biennale.
