Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Canaves Oia Hotel is in Oia, which is among the most famous places in Santorini. The hotel's surroundings are picture-postcard Santorini, with smooth-walled white buildings connected by pathways and scattered down a cliffside to the Aegean Sea.

Rooms at Canaves Oia Hotel

The suites at Canaves Oia Hotel have a classic Greek style, with rugged adobe-style walls painted a pure white and contrasting beautifully with the deep blue of the sea and the sky outside your window - enjoy the views over the caldera and beyond. They have a minimalist feel, offset by the occasional grand piece of furniture, such as an ornately-carved dresser or an antique wooden chair. The bathrooms are sleek and modern, and all rooms feature balconies overlooking the Aegean.

The Grand Suites have an open-plan loft which leads onto a spacious terrace with an open-air plunge pool, with views over the volcanic islands which dot the ocean. The stunning River Pool Suite features a long Jacuzzi pool which snakes from indoors to outside.

As well as Canaves Oia Hotel, the Canaves stable includes Canaves Oia Suites, which have spacious living areas and private plunge pools; the Canaves Oia Villa, which offers 180 square metres of Greek luxury, with three bedrooms, two spacious verandas and a large infinity pool; the Canaves Oia Sunday Suites, a collection of eight individually-designed suites including a honeymoon suite and a 10-bedroom villa; and Canaves Oia Epitome, a boutique hotel in a secluded setting perched above the pretty fishing town of Ammoudi, which offers sublime sunset views. This hotel is also suitable for families. Ask us for more details.

Food & Drink

The restaurant and bar sit beside the infinity pool, which merges with the Aegean on the horizon. The all-day menu is a blend of Greek and Mediterranean offerings - begin the day with a traditional breakfast of yoghurt and honey, cold cuts and freshly-baked bread, before tucking into Greek salad, traditional meat gyros or fresh seafood dishes at lunch and dinner. Tinkling piano music adds to the relaxing atmosphere. You can also dine in the privacy of your suite's balcony if you prefer.

Don’t miss the regular tastings of Santorini’s very own wines, and try the bar’s signature cocktails on the candlelit terrace in the evening.

Facilities

The pool and terrace is the perfect place to while away an afternoon, while the spa offers the chance to indulge in massage treatments accompanied by stunning views over the ocean and the extinct volcanic caldera which makes up Santorini and the surrounding islands. There’s also a gym, so there’s no need to skip your workout, or you can unwind with a yoga class.

Activities at Canaves Oia Hotel

Nothing says ‘luxury’ like cruising through the Aegean Islands on a private catamaran, with a number of boats to choose from for sailing trips from the hotel.

The coastal town of Oia is a lovely place for a stroll, with volcanoes and hot springs to discover. The tiny colourful port of Ammoudi nearby is a great place to visit and is strewn with fishing boats. Learn about Santorini's maritime history at the Maritime Museum, which is housed in a reformed 19th-century mansion. Be sure also to visit the ancient Minoan ruins of Akrotiri, the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral and the remains of Ancient Thira.
