Hotel Overview

Sense of place

In the Pindos Mountains of Zagori in northern Greece, in an area characterised by beech and chestnut forests, crystal clear rivers and towering snow-topped peaks. The Vikos-Aoos National Park here is rich in history as well as pristine nature, reflected in its Ottoman stone bridges and centuries-old churches.

Rooms at Aristi Mountain Resort

No more than 20 guestrooms offer understated style at Aristi Mountain Resort, from the double rooms with village views to the superior rooms with fireplaces and Jacuzzi baths. Families will love the duplex room or spacious villa, while couples should upgrade to the junior suite or suite with its exposed wooden roof and balcony.

Food and drink

Relish delicious Greek cuisine made from ingredients plucked straight from the hotel gardens, and meat sourced from free-range and organic farms nearby. Even the mushrooms and greens are picked from the mountain slopes of Ipirus. Wash it all down with a bottle of fine Greek wine and take in the mountain vistas from the terrace.

Facilities

The star of the show is the enticing wellness centre, featuring a heated indoor pool with wide windows framing mountain views. There’s also a sauna and steam room, and soothing treatments like massages and even yoga classes – we love a morning yoga session on the banks of the river nearby. Another place to unwind is in the inviting lounge, where you’ll find a bar and fireplace, books and board games. There’s a boutique offering handmade products like jewellery and gourmet treats, so you can take a piece of Zagori home with you.

Activities

There’s no end to the adventures to be had in beautiful Zagori. The Voidomatis River provides opportunities for kayaking, rafting and fly fishing, while the mountains are ripe for exploring on horseback, bike or foot. Thrill seekers should try hang gliding, rock climbing or 4x4 adventures, too. Hikers will walk in the footsteps of Ottoman traders who built pretty stone bridges, and quintessential Greek villages dotted around the Vikos-Aoos National Park.
