Hotel Overview

Sense of place

On a quiet lane in the old town of Vis minutes away from the seafront, Hotel San Giorgio is a great place to relax on this most relaxing and unspoilt of Croatian islands. Vis is much quieter than better-known islands such as Hvar and Korcula, and is also the home of some of the finest food and wine in Croatia.

Rooms at Hotel San Giorgio

The rooms and suites are comfortable and simple in design, with wooden floors and exposed stonework on the walls. Each one is decorated with unique photographic artwork which pays tribute to the nearby ocean, and deluxe bedrooms feature spacious private balconies which overlook the sea.

Food & drink

Vis’s unspoilt nature means local traditions and ways of life are strong on the island. That’s particularly the case with food, which is some of the best anywhere in Croatia. At the hotel’s Boccaodoro restaurant, fresh local produce is whipped up into delicious, traditional local recipes like black cuttlefish risotto and octopus stew.

Facilities

Bicycle rental and car hire can be arranged, as can packed lunches to take with you on your excursions.

Activities at Hotel San Giorgio

A short boat ride away lies one of Croatia’s biggest natural attractions, the Blue Cave, which glows with a beautiful blue light at certain times of day. Also worth a visit is the beautiful Stiniva Cove and nearby Stoncica Beach.

Vis is renowned for the quality of its wine, and there are numerous opportunities for tours and tastings - the renowned Roki’s, in the village of Plisko Polje inland, will even pick you up from Vis town. Roki’s, as well as being a vineyard and winemakers, is a fantastic restaurant in a perhaps surprising location next to Vis’ cricket ground, and specialises in hearty servings of traditional Dalmatian cuisine.
