Itinerary details

Flying into Croatia’s capital, you’ll be hit by the beauty of its shining star. Pushed up against Mount Srd and hemmed in by the limpid sea, Dubrovnik is almost fantastical with its terracotta roofs, encircling stone wall and World Heritage-listed Old Town. With a firm emphasis on water-based activities, the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace is an ideal base for you and the family to jump from one water sport to the next. Swim in one of the three pools, take a dive at the scuba centre or race into the cooling sea from the beach. Your hotel is just 10 minutes from the iconic Old Town where you can explore the Rector's Palace, Franciscan Monastery and Dominican Monastery, or go on a Game of Thrones walking tour. Though the kids might be too young to have watched Game of Thrones, they’ll still get hooked on the stories of dragons, warriors and princesses, while you’ll get to follow in Joffrey’s footsteps at Lovrijenac Fortress, stand where Arya Stark did in season one and hear stories about filming in ‘King’s Landing’ – it’s worth every minute!

7 nightsMLJET

A patchwork of lakes, forests and tiny towns, Mljet is Croatia’s greenest island. With over 84% of it being forest and the entire western end a national park, your seven nights here will be packed with excursions through the pine and holm oak woodland, hikes along the secluded lake shores and tours to discover the local fauna of wild boar, deer, lizards and many bird species. Fuel up at the pizzeria or terraced tavern at the Hotel Odisej before going sailing, snorkelling and diving in the shallow waters of Pomena Bay. Hire a canoe and paddle the small and big lakes, stopping at the 12th century Benedictine monastery (perched on its own island) or travel along the south coast to the 10th century village of Babino Polje, where you can walk to the nearby Odysseus Cave – the views are spectacular and it’s the perfect opportunity for a family holiday pic.
