Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Fiordland is New Zealand’s largest and most pristine wilderness, an untouched area of forest, mountains and, of course, fiords. A cruise on the Fiordland Jewel along the Milford Sound, the most famous of the region’s fiords, is unforgettably scenic.

Rooms onboard the Fiordland Jewel

The cabins are luxuriously appointed and very spacious, making the very most of the limited space available in the hulls of a catamaran. There are 9 cabins, each with king-size beds and air conditioning, and some come with separate seating areas. The marine colour scheme features tasteful blues, whites and greys. The wraparound windows offer scenic views out to the surrounding ocean.

Food & Drink

Fiordland Jewel’s cuisine is another area where the boat can claim superiority over the competition: the onboard private chef will prepare delicious cuisine for you, featuring freshly-caught seafood matched with some of the best wine Central Otago has to offer. Savour it all as you watch the scenery of Fiordland pass by.

Facilities

The Fiordland Jewel features an onboard helipad, a comfortable lounge area, and an on-deck hot tub – the perfect place to relax with a drink as you watch the stunning scenery unfold around you. The Jewel’s ROV is the first of its kind in Fiordland and offers a glimpse into the fiords’ otherwise unknowable depths.

Activities onboard the Fiordland Jewel

Scenery and wildlife watching alone are enough to make a trip on the Jewel worthwhile, with the imposing fiords home to rare black coral, lobsters, seals, dolphins and penguins, among many other creatures. The onboard sea kayaks allow you to experience the environment even closer up, while diving and fishing are also available. The ROV allows you to experience the alien world of the deep from the vessel’s comfortable lounge.
