Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Hamurana Lodge sits on the shores of Lake Rotorua and is surrounded by natural beauty everywhere you look, from the vibrantly-coloured waters to rolling fields and soaring mountains beyond.

Rooms at Hamurana Lodge

The rooms at Hamurana Lodge are luxurious while retaining a homely feel, with pine furniture, tasteful wallpaper and design in the style of an English cottage. Superior Rooms are located on the second floor and offer views over the lake or nearby farmland. Some rooms and suites also overlook the hotel’s garden. The Family/Friends Suite has two interconnecting rooms, one double and one twin, and is great for larger groups.

Food & drink

Dining at Hamurana Lodge reflects a Slow Food-style commitment to fresh ingredients and local producers, with sumptuous supper platters exhibiting the best that the region has to offer every evening. Produce you can look forward to includes smoked New Zealand salmon, award-winning cheeses, homemade chutneys and a variety of locally-made breads. You can enjoy your dinner, accompanied by acclaimed New Zealand wines, in one of the hotel’s dining rooms or lounges, on the balcony or in the garden, or in the privacy of your own suite.

Facilities

Hamurana Lodge’s Sanctuary Spa reflects the peaceful atmosphere of Rotorua, with traditional Maori treatments on offer based on principles dating back 4,000 years. Traditional romiromi and mirimiri massage treatments are aimed towards body realignment and release of pressure points. There’s also a heated outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court and a well-equipped fitness studio.

Activities at Hamurana Lodge

Rotorua is pretty spectacular whichever way you look at it, but experiencing it through a bird’s eye view from a helicopter ride is an unforgettable experience. As beautiful as the area is from afar, experiencing it up close is a must: the volcanic activity has created bubbling mud pools and steaming geysers, and you can swim in natural hot pools at Tarawera. The Whakarewarewa Forest has great mountain biking trails, while Rainbow Springs Nature Park is a great place to meet the iconic kiwi and a centre for its conservation.
