970 Lonely Bay

Overlooking Lonely Bay, the retreat is just a short walk from Cooks Beach, near Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Decorated in neutral tones and flooded with natural light, 970 Lonely Bay’s four suites are minimalist and elegant. Each suite comes with a spacious en suite bathroom, generously-sized minibars and private balconies with bush or water views of the Purangi Estuary and Cooks Beach.

You’ll never cease to be amazed by Rosemary and Graeme, 970 Lonely Bay’s incredibly welcoming hosts. Freshly made croissants are favourites at the breakfast table every morning, and dinners, picnic hampers, afternoon teas and pre-dinner nibbles are available on request. Due to its small capacity, there’s a real homely feel at the 970 Lonely Bay. Spend time relaxing by the fireside in the library in winter, or out on the numerous decks when it’s warm.

With the Whitianga area’s caramel-coloured sandy beaches on your doorstep, you can experience some of New Zealand’s finest surfing, fishing, diving and yachting. For something a little different, hop on a ferry over to nearby Whitianga and sample some of its renowned fine dining.
