Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Halcyon House sits on the shores of Cabarita Beach, a beautifully secluded beach sheltered by the Norries Headland on the coast of New South Wales, surrounded by tropical forest. This tranquil slice of paradise is one of Australia’s best kept secrets – and it offers one of Australia’s best surf breaks. However, you can enjoy the best of both worlds here as it is by no means isolated - you can quickly reach hotspots such as Byron Bay and chic coastal towns such as Brunswick Head and Mullumbimby.

Rooms at Halcyon House

The hotel has 21 fabulously luxurious rooms and suites, each individually designed, in a coastal-inspired style that is both classic and refreshingly modern. They come with antique furnishings, king-sized beds, marble bathrooms, high ceilings and a fresh blue and white colour scheme, as well as mini-bars and air conditioning for those balmy summer nights. Relax on your private balcony and enjoy the panoramic beach and sea views.

Food & Drink

Start the day in style with hearty a la carte breakfast of sourdough toast, smoked bacon, scrambled eggs and kefir pancakes with freshly-made juices, served in your room or in the restaurant. Halcyon House’s acclaimed restaurant, Paper Daisy, is headed up by award-winning Australian chef Ben Devlin, who champions the region’s plentiful fresh, local, and organic produce to celebrate the best of Australian coastal cooking. The irresistible menu includes coal-roasted fish and grilled wagyu beef.

During your stay, you can indulge in an exceptional fruit tasting experience and taste over 500 exotic fruits native to the local coast.

Relax by the pool with homemade ice-cream from the gelato cart. Finish the evening with a drink in the terrace bar, where you can choose from local beers, fine wines and cocktails - we recommend the signature Aperol Spritz.

Facilities

Halcyon House is built around a beautiful heated saltwater pool and terrace area that looks out on the palm-fringed Cabarita Beach – ideal for a relaxing afternoon of swimming, drinking and relaxing while soaking up the sun and the sea views. You can also play a game of croquet on the lush lawns.

Activities at Halcyon House

The best way to kickstart your day at Halcyon House is with an invigorating dose of yoga on the white sands of Cabarita Beach just as the sun rises. You can follow it up by learning how to surf (surfboards are provided) or go snorkelling, paddleboarding and kayaking with turtles.

Explore the gorgeous coastal rainforest on foot or by complimentary bike, or canter serenely along the beach on horseback as the sun sets.

There is a 24-hour concierge service to help you make the most of your stay.
