Regions in Vietnam

In northern Vietnam you could be cycling through the French colonial capital, Hanoi, amid thousands of locals on bikes, or enjoying a peaceful cruise through the dramatic cliff scenery of Halong Bay. In south Vietnam, you'll find the thronging Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and the Mekong Delta with its floating markets and some beautiful beach and island escapes, while a central Vietnam holiday is a cultural, historical and visual feast, with the elegant cities of Hue and Hoi An leading the field.

The streets of Vietnam’s buzzing capital, Hanoi, are packed full of thriving shops and cafes, and grand French colonial architecture gives the city a unique identity, where East meets West. Just a short hop away is the stunning Halong Bay; cruising through the uninhabited forested limestone islands rising majestically from the calm waters of the bay is a must-do.
The stunning landscapes and floating villages of the Mekong Delta have made it one of South East Asia’s most enchanting locations and the lifeblood of its local community, central to its culture and steeped in ancient legend.  Back on the mainland, skyscrapers and colonial architecture stand side by side in the fascinating Saigon (now officially called Ho Chi Minh City), a cosmopolitan metropolis teeming with history.
In the elegant city of Hoi An, foodies are spoiled with fantastic cuisine and nearby temples lure the culture vultures. Head here during one of the full moon festivals, when the city lights are turned off and the town is lit solely by lanterns and the light of the full moon. The beautiful town of Hue lies on the banks of the Perfume River, where lavish tombs of Vietnam’s last imperial family line the town’s riverbank.

Vietnam’s long sandy beaches and shimmering waters offer a serene foil to its bustling cities and unexplored countryside, contributing to its status as an amazing all-in-one holiday destination. These islands, scattered on both sides of the south coast, are some of the most beautiful beach resorts in Vietnam.
