Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The lodge is located in the quaint village of Na Phon, in the heart of the Mai Chau valley. You’ll feel fully immersed in local life here, glimpsing farmers out working in the fields and villagers en route to the morning market.

Rooms at Mai Chau Ecolodge

Five different room types are housed inside traditional stilted bungalows, constructed using entirely natural materials. Modelled on the local stilt houses typical to the Thai ethnic culture, they display thatched roofs, bamboo beams and wooden furniture, with outdoor jungle showers and private gardens for complete seclusion. In a bid to help you feel completely disconnected from the modern world, televisions and entertainment systems are purposefully absent from the rooms.

Food and drink

The two-story restaurant and bar is the centrepiece of the lodge, occupying the highest point on the property and enjoying magnificent panoramic views. The cuisine here combines authentic Vietnamese flavours and Thai tribal food, making full use of the fresh vegetables and herbs grown in the garden. Arrive early for pre-dinner cocktails at the bar to watch the sun sink over the horizon.

Facilities

The impressive lagoon-style swimming pool has been carefully designed to resemble a mountain lake, opening out onto a vast expanse of rugged scenery. The poolside bar will keep you fuelled throughout the day, while the restaurant is just opposite for when you’re feeling peckish. The lodge also has a well-equipped massage centre, with ten chambers enjoying panoramic vistas.

Activities at Mai Chau Ecolodge

Immerse yourself in rural life during your stay at Mai Chau, heading out on hiking trips into the mountains or around the charming villages. Bicycles are free to rent from the lodge, and half day cycling tours are on offer, among a number of trekking and boating excursions.
To get a real taste of local life, enrol yourself in a cookery course, head out with a local farmer to help work the fields, or watch a traditional folk dance show at the lodge while sipping on a Ruou Can: a local rice wine.
