From trekking to boating, and from Thailand to Laos - today, you’ll board a luxury riverboat for a cruise along the mighty Mekong River towards Luang Prabang, learning about life on the river and its colourful wildlife along the way, and enjoying delicious buffet lunches onboard, featuring traditional Laotian cuisine.
Day 1
As you make your journey along the Mekong, you’ll stop off at a traditional Laotian village, with its houses on stilts, and watch artisans at work on centuries-old crafts. After tucking into lunch onboard as you take in the scenery, you’ll arrive at
Luang Say Lodge before sunset, and dinner will be served on the terrace overlooking the river, made with fresh, organic vegetables grown in the surrounding gardens.
Stay overnight at the lodge, which sits on the riverfront, against a tropical mountain and jungle backdrop. Watch the fiery red sunset over the water from your riverside room, cocktail in hand, and wake up to the sight of the mist-covered mountains.
Day 2
The next day, continue your cruise, taking in the sandy beaches and granite cliffs. Visit the hill tribe village of Baw, where you can discover how Laotian whiskey is made, and have another buffet lunch onboard. Before arriving in Luang Prabang, you’ll also have the chance to see the thousands of Buddha statues in the Tam Ting caves, a popular local pilgrimage spot.
