Aava Resort & Spa is set on an untouched nine-kilometre-long beach overlooking the clear aquamarine water on one side and lush jungle on the other.

This boutique retreat has just 28 rooms and villas, guaranteeing privacy and seclusion. The decor is contemporary with sleek Asian touches and minimalist bathrooms.

The Deluxe Bungalows and Superior Bungalows are set further back, and the Superior Bungalows have a private garden terrace. The Poolside Villas are nearer the beach and have the best sea views, with direct access to the infinity pool. For families, the Family Villa is perfect, with two bedrooms, a private sun terrace with an outside Jacuzzi and sea views.

At Aalto, a stylish beachside restaurant, Asian and European flavours feature on the menu and the kitchen only uses the freshest, regional produce in their plates including local seafood delivered each day. Enjoy freshly-baked bread, buns and croissants for breakfast. Alternatively, Aava Pizzeria & Bakery serves up delicious thin-crust pizzas cooked in its wood-fire oven.

Guests can enjoy a beach barbecue of grilled meat, fish and vegetables, accompanied by Thai music and dancing on some days. If you want to learn more about Thai cooking, classes are held in the Aalto restaurant, and you can visit the local market to buy fresh ingredients.

Just steps from the resort is the pristine golden Nadan Beach, and directly in front of the beach is the infinity pool, so you can have the best of both worlds. Order food and drinks from the poolside menu throughout the day, brought straight to your sunbed, or treat yourself to a cocktail during one of the two happy hours each day!

Wellness is a big part of Aava Resort & Spa, with activities including mediation, yoga, Tai Chi and Muay Thai (Thai boxing) to enhance your mind body and soul. Recharge at the Aava Spa, a haven for relaxation, with therapeutic treatments inspired by holistic and Thai rituals. Couples with children in tow can enjoy some alone time with the complimentary babysitting service.

There are many activities on offer to explore the area. Navigate mangrove forests in kayaks, go snorkelling, trek in nearby national parks and take a trip to Koh Samui, which is just a 25-minute speedboat away. The area is famous for its rare pink dolphins - spot them on a boat trip. We also recommend venturing underground with a visit to nearby caves.
