The Ranee Boutique Suites

Facing the waterfront in the centre of Kuching, next to the city’s main bazaar.

There are 24 individually-designed suites at The Ranee, each with a unique layout and elegant furnishings. All accommodation is spacious and air-conditioned, with flatscreen televisions, personal safes and mini-bars. Suites on the top floor have balconies overlooking the river, colonial buildings and the bazaar below.

Sample delicious local cuisine at the hotel’s Mbar and Bistro: at breakfast you can try the local speciality, Laksa Sarawak, or Roti Canai and rice porridge. International dishes are also served at the restaurant, and the bar offers cocktails, beers and the local favourite, Tuak, which is a traditional brew made from glutinous rice. Wind down in the reading lounge on the first floor, enjoy a pot of tea and light snacks at the hotel’s Cafe Trio, and support local artisans by picking up handmade gifts from the hotel boutique.

There are plenty of worthwhile attractions to explore in Kuching, and none are too far from The Ranee. The city bazaar is right on your doorstep and St Thomas’ Cathedral is a short stroll away. Other highlights of the city are Sarawak Museum, the Chinese Museum and Tua Pek Kong Temple, and you can also take a boat down the river to visit Astana Palace.
