Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Trunk (Hotel) is in Shibuya, Tokyo’s hipster heart, which is home to countless bars, restaurants and fashion boutiques – the latter frequented by the colourfully-dressed young people who can be seen gathering on Cat Street, showcasing the outlandish fashion for which the Harajuku area has become famous.

Rooms at Trunk (Hotel)

Each of the rooms and suites is individually styled, with all of them sharing a contemporary Japanese design. They have a minimalist feel, with whitewashed walls, floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the rooms with natural light, and natural wood furnishings, alongside TVs, stylish vintage radios and luxury toiletries in the tiled bathrooms. Some have balconies, while others feature spacious outdoor terraces with al fresco dining areas.

Food & Drink

The Trunk Kitchen serves up cuisine which seeks to reflect Shibuya’s heritage as a melting pot for traditions and ideas from across Tokyo, Japan and beyond. The food has a healthy focus, and dishes are often presented in the traditional format of a broth with three side dishes.

At breakfast, you can choose between a classic full English or healthier options like granola with fruit, while more traditional dishes populate the menu later in the day – try the teriyaki pork with Sichuan pepper, or the Hokkaido beef with grilled vegetables. Meat lovers should head to Kushi, where you’ll find a range of skewered beef, chicken and pork.

Facilities

The hotel’s stylish lounge, in keeping with the area’s hipster reputation, becomes a bar at night and hosts a DJ, while during the day it’s a great place to relax with a coffee and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. The hotel also has a boutique, where you can find locally-produced beers and wines, sweets and handicrafts – the perfect souvenir.

Activities at Trunk (Hotel)

The hotel’s central location means it’s perfectly placed for you to explore Tokyo at your own pace, but a range of guided activities are on offer to help you get the most out of your time in the Japanese capital. Enjoy a national iconic sport with seats at a sumo match, or see a side of the culture not normally experienced by tourists as you visit a local family in Shibuya and enjoy a traditional home-cooked meal with them.
