Oyado Koto No Yume

In the old town of Takayama in the Japanese Alps, just a two minute walk from the train station.

The 18 rooms at Koto No Yume are individually styled but all align with the traditional tatami design of Japanese ryokans, featuring tatami mats and futon beds, as well as modern amenities including flat-screen TVs and lounge chairs.

Guests are asked to dress in the customary Yukata robes and slippers when staying at Koto No Yume; you can choose your own upon arrival. Tuck into a feast of exquisite Japanese cuisine in the dining room, with generous portions of Hida beef, sashimi and fish amongst many others on offer. However Western meals are also available for breakfast and dinner, though you must request this in advance.

Melt into the ryokan’s hot-spring baths, some of which are open-aired or partly open, and another private onsen which is all yours for 40 minutes; you can also treat yourself to a soothing spa treatment. Koto No Yume is a stone’s throw from Kokubunji Temple, the oldest temple in Takayama, while a further 10 minutes away is the Miyagawa Market and historical private houses, which are well worth a visit.
