The stone and thatched suites and villas have been thoughtfully designed to reflect Jeeva Klui’s natural surroundings, with terracotta tiled floors, natural wood accents and traditional Balinese fabrics. The 25 metre-long infinity pool is perfectly placed for taking in the stunning ocean views, and you can indulge in an Indonesian massage in one of the beach palapas or treatment rooms. The hotel restaurant, Waroeng, is in a beautiful open-air setting with a veranda overlooking the pool and beach. Imitating the style of a traditional village long house, this is where to feast on delicious western and Asian dishes – otherwise you can opt for total privacy with room service. There’s a lounge and library space where you can borrow novels, DVDs and history books, or play a board game over a cup of coffee or tapas snacks.

When it comes to activities, you’re spoilt for choice. Explore the area on a bicycle tour, venture to the waterfalls in northern Lombok, or go for a day trip to the Gili Islands. Otherwise stay closer to home and snorkel the crystalline waters of Klui beach, home to an offshore reef and tropical fish.
