Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Villa Borobudur sits secluded among a handful of small and traditional Javanese villages, each with its own religious heritage and nestled within central Java’s colourful flora and fauna.

Rooms at Villa Borobudur

The property comprises six luxurious villas with individual themes. Villa Borobudur is the largest of these and offers a classic style, combining traditional architectural features and constructed with locally sourced materials. Other themes include jungle - perfect for families, and heavenly: the ideal romantic hideaway. Local art and textiles embellish each of the villas, while sun terraces and private pools soak up those sumptuous views.

Food & drink

Every villa comes complete with its own personal chef, each an expert in traditional cuisine. Chefs will tailor meals to suit your preferences and draw inspiration from local cooking, incorporating fresh produce from the surrounding countryside - much of which is home grown on the Borobudur estate. Enjoy your meals in the comfort and seclusion of your own villa, or out in the local area if you prefer. Cooking classes are also available, offering a fascinating insight into Indonesian flavours and cuisine.

Facilities

The Borobudur property has no shortage of private pools, terraces and secluded dining spots. Additionally, an extensive spa menu of massages and treatments are offered to every guest and can be enjoyed anywhere on the property. There are also yoga and mediation sessions held regularly in some of the villa’s most serene spots.

Activities at Villa Borobudur

The property strives to ensure every guest is treated to their own tailor-made experience, and so does not offer set excursions but bespoke private tours instead. Activity options are aplenty, encompassing visits to the region’s ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples, volcanoes and waterfalls; walking, cycling or horse and carriage rides to the local villages; wildlife spotting on rafting trips along the Progo River; or craft workshops to learn the traditional process of Batik, palm leaf braiding or pottery making.
