Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve has an enviable location on the banks of the Ayung River in Ubud. This serene city has long been a magnet for lovers of both meditation and the arts, and with its traditional temples, verdant forests and terraced rice fields, it is a far cry from a typical south-east Asian city.

Rooms at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

The beautiful suites and one, two and three-bedroom wood-thatched villas are dotted across the hotel’s lush grounds. Built in Balinese style from rich dark wood, the villas have high thatched ceilings, walls decorated with beautiful artwork representing the rich artistic traditions of Ubud, and spacious seating areas with comfy rattan sofas. All the villas have their own pool, looking out over the rainforest, the rice terraces or the river. Your butler will attend to your every need during your stay.

Food & Drink

Kubu is an atmospheric spot by the river, with bamboo-woven private dining ‘cocoons’ where you can enjoy Mediterranean and European cuisine - sample dishes include free range pork belly, fillet of barramundi and black cod. The Sawah Terrace, overlooking the tropical forest and the rice paddies, serves up gourmet twists on Balinese and Asian dishes - try the spiced suckling pig or the nasi goreng to experience some authentic local flavours, with ingredients from the chef’s organic garden.

Throughout the day, the Pool Bar serves healthy salads and smoothies, while the Library is a rich, wood-panelled space where you can enjoy English and Indonesian afternoon tea.

Facilities

The beautiful spa, hewn from stone and dark wood, is a supremely relaxing space, with an infinity pool and treatment rooms where you can enjoy a range of massages, body wraps and more inspired by Balinese healing traditions. Unwind Ubud-style with some yoga and meditation, or have a session with a local Balinese healer.

Activities at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Health and wellness are high on the agenda here both at the hotel and around Ubud - be sure to get out into the city and explore its plethora of yoga courses, meditation classes and spa retreats.

Another must is visiting the stunning rice terraces which can be found in the surrounding countryside. Explore in style on one of the hotel’s vintage VW convertibles, or by bike - bikes are available to rent everywhere, and are a fitting way to soak up the area’s slow pace of life.

Further afield, hikes to Mount Batur are a great way to work up a sweat, and sunrise and sunset make for particularly rewarding walks. In town, don’t miss the chance to catch a traditional Balinese dance performance, and visit beautiful water temples like Pura Taman Saraswati.
